Commendation
award! Rushmoor Borough Council ran a Rushmoor Design Awards 2009 competition 'to promote and improve the quality of our built and natural environment' in the borough. I'm pleased to announce that the extension won a commendation from the judges in the Best Conversion / Extension / Refurbishment category which keeps or adapts the original building, and complements the existing property. |

| "I Googled 'How to build and extension' and your site was top of the list. What a fantastic site it is too. I've just spent the last couple of hours reading through it from top to bottom and its given me the confidence to believe its something I could do too. Your attention to detail is outstanding. The windows for example, just amazing! You must be incredibly proud of your efforts." | |
| "Thank you for giving me the courage to take on a job that I was considering letting someone charge me thousands for! Your site is brilliant, good luck with the rest of the build." | |
| "I have been scouring the Internet trying to find a website to help me understand each stage of building an extension. Thankfully I came across your website." | |
| "I'm in the middle of a self build extension and have just stumbled on your site. I'd just like to say I am finding it very useful and wish I'd found it sooner." | |
| "Thanks for a truly professional web site i am about to start an extension to my home and found the information incredibly useful , I've had ridiculous quotes to have a builder do the work for me and have decided to take the plunge and do it myself" | |
February 2007: When I was thinking about self-building a small extension to my house in the UK, even in the vastness of the Internet I could not find a web site that took me step-by-step through a complete build photographically. I thought that I would remedy that situation by documenting my build as it took place on a daily basis. I plan to undertake all the work myself - a real self-build project and I hope that you find it useful. Let me know if you do! email:
September 2007: Well, the project is 100% finished and took a total of five months from start to finish. I'm exceedingly pleased with the result and I can say that I laid every brick, screwed every screw and even built all the windows.
